What is Acupuncture?
An ancient system of complementary techniques, acupuncture uses the stimulation of certain points on the body (also known as acu-points) with very small sterile needles. Ear acupuncture, foot acupuncture, and other modern acupuncture treatments can be used to balance the body for improved health and fertility, reduced pain, and to treat mental, physical, and emotional imbalances. From its roots in China thousands of years ago, acupuncture is now widely practiced in the West. Check out my FAQs to learn more and see what to expect at your first appointment!
THERAPIES CUSTOMIZED FOR YOU, THE PATIENT!
Each patient is unique and requires treatment tailored to their needs. I effectively treat chronic and acute conditions using various techniques that can eliminate the need for drugs or surgery!
The World Health Organization has determined that acupuncture is proven as an effective treatment for a wide range of body aches, pains, and other ailments. If you are suffering from chronic, acute, back, or neck pain, and in need of relief, acupuncture may be able to help.
Cupping utilizes a number of small cups placed on the body with heat, resulting in a vacuum effect with the skin. This brings fresh blood to the region, promoting circulation and the flow of lymph, eliminating toxins, loosening tight muscles, and reducing inflammation.
Moxibustion or “moxa” technique provides the body with gentle warmth to specific areas, encouraging circulation and blood-flow to the desired regions. It has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) throughout China and Asia for thousands of years to reduce and manage pain.
What conditions can Acupuncture treat effectively?
Licensed Acupuncturists are qualified to treat a variety of health conditions, from chronic headaches and migraines to infertility to knee pain. Many studies have proven the effectiveness of acupuncture in the medical field, as this report shows from the World Health Organization (WHO). Check out my areas of specialty page for more info on conditions that I routinely have success treating.
Do needles make you queasy? Not to worry!
I can provide a number of needle-less treatments for patients who are needle-shy or for those (such as young children) who are otherwise sensitive to needles.
Needleless treatments can include acupressure, cupping, ear magnet and seed therapy, shiatsu, shoni-shin, zero balancing, herb/nutrition consultations and/or moxibustion.
